Our Future Series
Designed and led with the help of a college student, GJWHF$ launched its first youth and co-ed initiative, a four-session program for young adults transitioning into and through college.
Our Mission
Why did we create OFS?
Our Future Series empowers all members of the next generation to invest today, targeting the root cause of the gender investment gap.
Our Future Series was created by a college student who approached GJWHF$ with questions about her personal finances and how to jumpstart investing – eager to learn herself and to ensure others were being educated.
Through zoom and hybrid cohort-based sessions, young adults build confidence with money through small-group learning, practical tools, and honest conversations about wealth. These sessions combine the perspective of college students who understand the needs of youth, and the expertise and community of GJWHF board members.
Aligned with the GJWHF$ mission, Our Future Series aims to target the gender investment gap from the root, bringing students of all genders into the investment conversation and education together.
Our Future Series Syllabus

Explores how your beliefs about money shape your wealth, how to spot your unfair advantages and hidden assets, and why earning well isn't the same as building wealth.
Session 2: Strategic Budgeting and Saving
Practical money management: the 50/30/20 rule, tracking expenses, needs vs. wants, saving strategies that stick, and choosing bank accounts and using credit wisely.
Session 3: Principles of Investment
Fundamentals of saving vs. investing, compounding, risk vs. return.
Session 4: Asset Classes
An introduction to the different asset classes, how they belong in a portfolio, and deconstructing the mechanics of pooled investments.
Session 5: Your First Investment
Setting goals, time horizon and risk tolerance, choosing a platform, researching ETFs, placing your first index ETF order, and monitoring and rebalancing afterward.
What makes us different?
Our Future Series takes a community approach to financial education. Taking your first steps can be intimidating. Each cohort is led by a college student and a team of GJWHF moderators - the content is truly built for beginners. Sessions are not only professional but also approachable and conversational.
