One Member’s Journey: From Beginner to Confident Investor

As one of our members recently shared in the GJWHF$ Whatsapp community:

“My entire investment journey started at last year’s Christmas Money Date. The only reason I was there was to meet new people. I didn’t have a clue what’s an ETF and I thought I was investing because I had bought health insurance. By the end of the Money Date I had only 1 goal – to make 1 investment by the end of June.

The sense of accountability I had from the Money Date pushed me to learn more. Over the next 6 months, I had a couple of GJWHF$ Money Dates, listened to loads of podcasts and read an introductory guide to investing. I was also closely following the sage advice in this WhatsApp chat, where I found all the best insights.

I’m proud to say that I failed to achieve my end-of-June goal...by 14 days. One year later, I have my investments automated, am dollar cost averaging my way into the market and am enjoying the compounding effect on my portfolio. This time last year, I wouldn’t have even understood what that sentence meant.

If you are a beginner investor and curious about how to start, this is a great place to learn how others started.

If you have been investing for a while and want to take your investments in a new direction, this is the place for new ideas.

If you are a sophisticated investor and know what you’re doing, we want to learn from you, and this a chance to pay it forward.

If you are one or none of the above, this is a great chance to meet others from our wonderful community, at a great venue that supports a wonderful cause.”
